Answering Your Questions About Vinyl Wrap Materials, Textures And More

As you can imagine, we get a lot of questions about vinyl wraps but there are three that come up more frequently than the rest and we thought it was time to address them in a blog post!

What brand of vinyl does Wraps1.com use?

We use vinyl material from 3M, Avery, Oracal, Arlon and Hexis. We’re very specific about what brands we carry and why. While they’re all of high quality some of them are rising to the top because of their superior color selection and commitment to releasing different colors on a continuous basics. Avery releases new colors two or three times a year while 3M seems to be the slowest, updating their color line once a year.

Before we use any company’s materials, we test them extensively to make certain they’re ready for the wear and tear that a car wrap sees. 3M and Avery are industry leaders for a reason and we’ll usually go with those when they match the customer’s color and texture needs, but we’ve been very happy with the quality from Oracal, Arlon and Hexis.

What kind of textures are available for vinyl wraps installed by Wraps1.com?

The short version? Anything you can imagine.

However, if you want a list of what’s currently available, here you go: matte; matte metallic; gloss; gloss metallic; satin; carbon fiber; brushed; alligator; snake skin; leather. Most of our customers stick to the basics, preferring matte, satin, matte metallic, brushed or gloss with carbon fiber accents, but if you want to go for unique, we’re able (and eager) to do just that.

How do custom-printed vinyl wraps work?

They work pretty much as you imagine: we print them out in-house and install them! We’ve found that 3M and Avery offer the best vinyl for custom printing and whenever possible, we’ll use them for your graphic or advertising wrap.

The team at Wraps1.com also takes the time to build custom templates using actual photos of your vehicle and taking hand measurements. This is done to ensure both the client and Wraps1 team knows where every panel, verbiage and images on the panel lies on your vehicle after installation. We go over every inch of your car, truck or van measuring everything, including gas caps, handles, doors, windows, and moldings. You’ll be hard-pressed to find another vinyl wrap company that takes such good care of their clients.

There are more options available for printable vinyl than ever before, including reflective, dry erase, canvas textured and even clear vinyl. Since the industry is ever-evolving and technology is changing with it, make sure to ask your sales rep for more details about your custom project. We’re all about the challenges of this job and work to the extreme to make our clients happy. We also offer perforated window film to complete the “wraparound” effect for your car or truck while making it possible for you to view the road unobstructed.
